Toronto, ON (August 20, 2018) – Multi-award winning Canadian country artist Charlie Major is celebrating the release of the 25th anniversary edition of his #1 hit single “It Can’t Happen To Me”, available now via MDM Recordings Inc./Universal Music Canada. The remake of the track features a star-studded line-up of guest artists including Dean Brody, Terri Clark, Johnny Reid, Gord Bamford, Jess Moskaluke, Derek Miller, Jason Blaine, Tim Hicks, The Road Hammers, Doc Walker, Bobby Wills, Brett Kissel, Jason McCoy, Aaron Pritchett, Aaron Goodvin and Tebey with all proceeds being donated to MADD Canada, and is the first release off his forthcoming album, “More Of The Best (Greatest Hits 2)”, available September 7th.
An enthusiastic crowd was treated to a welcome surprise this weekend when Major unveiled the track during a special guest performance as part of JUNO Award winner Dean Brody’s set at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage, which also included a performance from label mate and fellow JUNO Award winner Jess Moskaluke.
More Mellencamp than Merle, the three-time consecutive JUNO Award winner champions the “blue collar” hero in a manner that resonates of Springsteen and other roots rock legends. Major holds the distinction of being tied with Michael Jackson for having six consecutive #1 hits (every single released) off his debut album back in 1993, and his numerous accolades also include multiple CCMA Award wins, a SOCAN Songwriters Honours, a BMI Award and ten #1 hit singles. His impressive catalogue includes 7 studio albums, 2 greatest hits albums and 32 radio singles to date.
Major joined multi-Platinum southern rock outfit Alabama for a handful of Canadian dates earlier this month before hitting the stage last week at the Havelock Country Jamboree ahead of the legendary Tanya Tucker and multi-Platinum country star Tim Hicks. He is set to perform in Hamilton at the 2018 CCMA Legends Show, which takes place on September 7th as part of the Country Music Week lead up to the 2018 CCMA Awards on September 9th.
